Der Schwimmverein Donaukanal wurde 2020
von vier Studierenden des Studiengangs Social Design der Angewandten als künstlerische Praxis ins Leben gerufen.
Später wurde der Schwimmverein Donaukanal als offener, gemeinütziger Kulturverein mit dem Ziel urbane Schwimmkultur am Donaukanal wiederzubeleben, gegründet.
Mit + 300 Mitgliedern ist der Verein aktiv entlang des Donaukanal und kollaboriert mit verschiedenen Intitiativen und Institutionen sowohl innerhalb von Wien als auch international.

Schwimmverein Donaukanal started off 2020 (during the pandemic) as an artistic practice of four social designers. By the time the collective studied together at die angewandte and later founded an association.
Schwimmverein Donaukanal is an open, non- profit cultural association aiming to revive urban swimming culture in Vienna’s Danube Canal.
Today the association counts +300 members and is collaborating with various stakeholders along the Danube Canal in Vienna and connects with numerous institutions and initiatives woldwide.
